Moonalice Legend Book Vol 7 Hardback
In a post-fact culture that gets stranger every day, it is hard to know what information sources to trust. Into the breach leaps The Moonalice Legend: Posters and Words, Volume 7, a book where truth rises like a phoenix from the ashes of fact. We won’t pretend that Volume 7 has all the answers – we have six other volumes in the series to fill in the gaps – but this book will give you insights not available anywhere else. Learn about Princess Sensimilla and Queen Tut, The Pied Piper of Felton, and the Moonalice twins, Bobbsey and Doublemint. Discover the wonders of zombie crustaceans, the first woman to pitch in major league baseball and the basset hound who went into space. Get the 411 on rosenshrooms, the Keystone 420 pipeline, hemp-powered one-man bands, and the Pirates of Arizona. This is truly the stuff of Moonalice Legend.
This book also includes the best poster art of San Francisco, created for a band committed to the notion that music, art, and laughing are good for the human spirit. Surrender to the fun and enjoy a year’s worth of fine poster art. Embrace the crazy and love the legendary.
Includes art by: Alexandra Fischer, Carolyn Ferris, Chris Shaw, Chuck Sperry, Darrin Brenner, Dave Hunter, David Singer, Dennis Larkins, Dennis Loren, Gary Grimshaw, Gary Houston, John Mavroudis, John Seabury, Lauren Yurkovich, Lee Conklin, Pat & George Sargent, Prairie Prince, Ron Donovan, Stanley Mouse, Wendy Wright, Wes Wilson, and Winston Smith

Pictures From Detroit Historical Museum Opening Reception For New Gary Grimshaw Exhibit

Back in October 2014, the Detroit Historical Museum hosted an opening reception for the new Gary Grimshaw exhibit. Lucky for us Dennis Loren was in attendance with his camera to take some pictures from the event. Pardon the delay but a well known pharmacy lost the film for months, only recently has it turned up, much to our delight. Enjoy!
Pictured above is Russ Gibb and Dennis Loren, one of the museum Gary Grimshaw display cases (filled with memorabilia) and a photo Laura Grimshaw with Dennis Loren.
Pictured above is Two of the museum display panels and Dennis Loren’s poster for the event (that features many of Gary Grimshaw’s concert posters for “Russ Gibb Presents” concerts, in the center).
Pictured above is a photo of Dennis Loren’s friend John Sinclair who managed the MC5 and other Detroit bands and worked with both Gary Grimshaw and Russ Gibb. John is also a poet and music scholar. In the lower left is a picture of Tony D’Annunzio and Dennis Loren. Tony made the documentary film “Louder Than Love – The Grande Ballroom Story,” which was shown at this event. The picture on the right is of Laura Grimshaw and Ralph Rinaldi. Ralph was a longtime friend of Gary. Ralph runs the the antique letter-press print shop at the museum, He and Laura are holding the memorial card that he printed that was given to each attendee to this event. The saying on the card says,
“The wild geese fly to home above the clouds. They no longer need their feathers and leave them behind for the sacred dance. Peace everlasting.” This was one of Gary’s favorite koans from the I Ching.
Russ Gibb sponsored the printing and at the bottom of the card it says, “Thanks Uncle Russ.”
This last photo is one of Dennis Loren’s White Stripes posters already on display in the Detroit music section of the museum, just like his old Muddy Waters poster that is on display in the Delta Blues Museum in Mississippi.
The exhibit continues until October 2015.
