The Poster Art of Chris Shaw – Paper, Ink and Rock n’ Roll – Episode 3

The third episode of the short film documentary series “Paper, Ink and Rock n’ Roll – A History of Rock Posters” focuses on the original poster art of Chris Shaw, whose body of work includes paintings, backdrops & rock posters since the mid ‘80’s. Chris creates posters using a myriad of styles and techniques, from hand-inked illustrations, to deeply layered digital collages. He has made dozens of posters for Bill Graham Presents and the Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco.

Dennis Larkins Interview by ¡COLORES!

Dennis Larkins was interviewed last week for the arts program ¡COLORES!, produced by Tara Walch and her team at the PBS affiliate in Albuquerque, NM. For those unfamiliar, Santa Fe based painter Dennis Larkins uses iconic imagery from the 50’s and 60’s to engage his audience.

One of the primary aspects of Pop Surrealism is the reintroduction of narrative as a legitimate form of communication. – Dennis Larkins

The Poster Art of Stanley Mouse – Paper, Ink and Rock n’ Roll – Episode 2

The second installment in the short documentary film series about the Moonalice Poster Artists, titled “Paper, Ink and Rock and Roll – A History of Posters”. This film features legendary poster artist Stanley Mouse, whose groundbreaking rock and roll poster art first appeared in the 1960’s for many Family Dog & Bill Graham concerts at venues like the Avalon Ballroom, the Fillmore Auditorium, Winterland, and other famed San Francisco venues.

The 9 minute Stanley Mouse film was directed by San Francisco based Photographer/Film Maker Jay Blakesberg and was Co-Produced by Blakesberg and Alexandra Fischer who also acts as Co-Creative Director of the Moonalice poster series.
