Pat & George Sargent

For twenty five years, Pat & George Sargent have run the Dragonfly Bindery Studio as a celebration of all that we love in books new and old…

Trained at The Rhode Island School of Design, Pat & George began in 1982 by specializing in the restoration and rebinding of old books, documents, maps, & rock posters!

They quickly branched into the creation of one-of-a-kind designer bindings and cases for all sorts of precious items. They’ve housed a piece of the Berlin Wall, 3-D Collectibles such as Burmese Shadow Puppets, Quilts, Marionettes, and historical artifacts from the Suffragette Movement. 300 of their unique custom-bound rare books were auctioned at Christie’s in 2005.

More recently they’ve built on George’s love of posters, which he began designing in high school. At first he restored posters from the 30’s and 40’s through the sixties — then designed new ones, including many for musicians appearing at Chan’s in Woonsocket, RI. What started with trading other collectors for posters has expanded to become another Dragonfly service — though they still do it mostly for the love of it.
