Moonalice Artists Attending TRPS Festival of Rock Posters 2016

The Rock Poster Society presents it’s annual event Festival of Rock Posters on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Held at the San Francisco County Fair Building (also known as the Hall of Flowers), it’s the biggest rock poster event of its kind! This is a great opportunity to meet your favorite artists and get your posters signed too.

This event runs from 10:00am to 6:00pm and admission will vary depending on the time you arrive, after 3:00pm the event is FREE. A complete list of all artists and vendors attending is at TRPS.org or join the event on Facebook for more information.

Moonalice proudly presents the short documentary film series “PAPER, INK and ROCK ‘n ROLL – A History of Posters”, that will bring you closer to the many Moonalice Poster Artists and their work.

The fourth installment in the short-film series features poster artist Dave Hunter, who moved to San Francisco in 1985 and has been involved in the Bay Area rock art/music scene ever since. Initially Dave helped to organize and install rock poster shows at the Psychedelic Shop and at the Artist Rights Today benefits, before he went on to work as head picture framer for The Fillmore at the Bill Graham Archives from 1988 till 1992. From this rock art rich background Hunter began to create rock art for San Francisco Bay Area bands, record labels and venues like the Fillmore. Dave has further returned to his roots in printmaking, creating silkscreened posters for the likes of Metallica, Sly & The Family Stone, Gov’t Mule, The Decemberists, Throbbing Gristle, The Neville Brothers & Dr John, Moonalice , Les Claypool and many more. He currently lives and works from his studio in Fairfax, CA, supporting his young daughter and a healthy art habit. Moonalice, director Jay Blakesberg & Co-Producers Blakesberg & Alexandra Fischer invite fans of Moonalice & Poster Art to enjoy a personal look at the history and stories that surround the poster artists in the Moonalice tribe. According to Moonalice legend, today is the 20th of April … the day after Bicycle Day … two days after Patriots Day … better known to us as 4/20. This year 4/20 is the day that the United States finally decided to replace the horrific Andrew Jackson on the $20 bill with the incredible and wonderful Harriet Tubman. Every year 4/20 is a day to celebrate the world’s most popular weed, cannabis. We are gathered here at Slim’s to share the High Holy Day of 4/20 with the members of our tribe. I am holding in my hands a set of 21 posters, by Chris Shaw, Winston Smith, Lauren Yurkovich, Wes Wilson, Stanley Mouse, Ron Donovan, Prairie Prince, Pat & George Sargent, John Seabury, Jennae Bennett, Dave Hunter, Chris Peterson, Lee Conklin, John Mavroudis, Jason Wilson, Gregg Gordon, Dennis Loren, Dennis Larkins, David Singer, Darrin Brenner, and Carolyn Ferris.
