Moonalice poster by Carolyn Ferris
Legend
According to Moonalice legend, today’s poster by Carolyn Ferris depicts Lilly Pad Moonalice, the patron saint of relief from the discomfort of monthly lunar activity. Accompanied by her pet owls, Cheech and Chong (and Ringo), Lilly provides herbal and other forms of pain relief to the better half of our tribe. We have no idea what the white powder is, but apparently it’s really good. On this Father’s Day, let’s salute dads everywhere, but let’s also raise a doobie to Lilly and the women of our tribe!
Artist’s Statement
Carolyn comments: “This one is called, In the beginning… It’s about the clarity of balance, yin and yang, giving and receiving, and of course stirring the right joy in life to feel blissful. This image speaks of experiencing a Moonalice show in Folsom for just a few hours at 3 pm on 16th of June as a particularly great joy recipe for gaining fabulous emotional balance and well being. This woman is wise, she has her owl friends and floats on a lotus as she sends a ship full of people off to see (sea) Moonalice. She’s personally experienced many Moonalice shows, as she loves to float at high altitudes most of the time. She’s recommending you dance the afternoon away, and come home with a major smile, and perhaps you’ll sleep well too.”
