Flying Machine Tie-Dye Tee by Gregg Gordon

According to Moonalice legend, the craft pictured on this tee is a very special flying machine that combines parts from every broken down car, airplane and hot air balloon from the yard in front of our double wide. It takes some work to get it started, but once the engine turns over the darn thing floats like a monarch butterfly.

The design is based on Moonalice poster number 887 by Gregg Gordon for the Good Old Days Celebration in Pacific Grove in 2016. It’s printed on turquoise tie-dye tees, and no two patterns are exactly alike.

Through their shared visual and political sensibilities, both artists deploy their art as critical commentary on the strangeness of American life and the disappointments and outrages of American politics.

HAIGHT STREET ART CENTER is proud to present the work of two lowbrow, pop-surrealist masters who have fearlessly explored the hilarious and poignant absurdities of America’s utopian dreams and often dystopian realities.

Iggy Pop – Bare & Real is a collection of photographs that Paul McAlpine took of Iggy Pop on various tours spanning the musician’s career from 1977’s The Idiot tour all the way to 2016’s Post Pop Depression tour. Paul McAlpine (born 1956) is an American photographer known primarily for his photographs of 1970-80’s Rock n’ Roll musicians. He has worked with such artists as Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Queen, Patti Smith, Debby Harry, Aerosmith, Boston, The Cars,and many others. His photographs are in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Hard Rock Café, as well as various private collections internationally.

The Moonalice Legend Posters and Words: Volume Nine Binding

Artists Patricia & George Sargent, who have been working for over 30 years on fine leather bindings, recently finished their latest commission, a leather binding for The Moonalice Legend Posters and Words Volume 9!

The binding was commissioned by Roger McNamee in 2019, and includes a special thanks to artist Carolyn Ferris for her art work from Moonalice posters (M892, M899, M881) that were used to design and execute the leather binding.

Artist Dennis Loren was asked to design the poster for a very special event on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at The Chapel in San Francisco, California. Mike Somavilla presents Celebrating The Life & Times of The Amazing Charlatan Mike Wilhelm – San Francisco’s First Psychedelic Guitarist, The Limit of the Marvelous!

Michael Ray Wilhelm was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter, best known as a founding member of the influential Bay Area band the Charlatans, known for starting the Haight-Ashbury psychedelic scene during the 1960s. Mike later played with the bands Loose Gravel and the Flamin’ Groovies.
