The Making of Moonalice Poster M210 By Chris Shaw

9/11/09 Moonalice poster by Chris Shaw

In celebration of the Chris Shaw poster release, we are taking a closer look at poster M210 that Chris created for the September 11th, 2009 show at Marin Veteran’s Mermorial Auditorium in San Rafael, California. Moonalice opened for Metallica that night, so Chris wanted to design a poster that both audiences would appreciate. Bring me the head of Medusa!!!

We had the chance to sit down with Chris this week and take a closer look at his process to make this striking poster. Mr. Shaw has shared some pictures with us to show how this piece evolved:

Chris first starts to sketch his idea with pencil, then brings it into Photoshop for some quick mock ups.
After the sketch is complete, Chris creates a blueline, which will then be used for the various layers.

For a limited time, Moonalice is making this poster available at a special price so anyone that appreciates Chris’ talent can add his art to their collection. This show is available to listen to for FREE at Moonalice.com.

I’m always amazed by Chris Shaw’s talent at using so many forms of media, including collage, paint and pin & ink. This poster is a perfect example of his fine pen & ink work.
