Moonalice poster by Ron Donovan
Legend
According to Moonalice legend, today’s poster by Ron Donovan depicts Queen Tut Moonalice, who ruled San Francisco before the native Americans got here. Queen Tut was a great monarch and her subjects loved her as more than any queen before or since. When Queen Tut died, the tribe built a pyramid in her honor. Right here, on what is now Union Square. As with many Moonalice projects back then, things did not go according to plan. They built the pyramid upside down, with the point facing down. Needless to say, the weight of the pyramid caused the whole thing to sink into the ground. It sat empty for millennia until the city of San Francisco started using it as a parking lot.
