The Art of Moonalice
We learned in the news today that Moonalice artist Claude Shade has passed away after a short-lived battle with cancer on November 19, 2015 at the age of 62. Claude worked for the agency Goodby, Silverstein & Partners for 20 years and was considered a part of it’s “Creative Soul.”
Claude Shade has a poster in the Moonalice series (M80) for the show on June 7, 2008 at Great American Music Hall – Olive Alley in San Francisco, CA with The Barenaked Ladies.
We love you Claude. Rest In Peace.
Peoples Art of Portland & Po Boy Art present Visual Crap – The Poster Work of Voodoo Catbox opening Saturday November 21, 2015 from 5:00 – 9:00pm.
Visual Crap is a magnificent retrospective of the much beloved Portland based graphic artist Gary Houston and his long and accomplished career of original art pieces, screen prints and concert posters. Gary will be selecting works from his massive archive to showcase original drawings, art prints and notable screen printed gig posters, over 300 pieces included in the exhibit!

According to Moonalice legend, as part of the Mill Valley Arts Commission First Tuesday Art Walk, Stanley Mouse of Rock Art Fame will show his fine art & sell copies of his new book California Dreams: The Art of Stanley Mouse.
We’re huge fans of Stanley Mouse, whose work includes 20 posters in the Moonalice series.

Stanley “Mouse” Miller was the son of a Disney animator and grew up doing hot-rod art in Detroit. Mouse had a natural feel for the organic lines of Art Nouveau as well as a hand that drew the art seemingly of its own volition. Upon moving to San Francisco, he teamed up with Alton Kelley to form the renowned “Mouse and Kelley.” Many of their posters remain enduring symbols of the sixties counterculture. His art is displayed in numerous museums around the world including The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The Tokyo Museum Of Modern Art, The Louvre in Paris as well as the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. Mouse is still actively painting and he lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
