According to Moonalice legend, today is Jerry Garcia’s birthday. It is hard to know what Jerry would have made of the times in which we live. Perhaps he would have shrugged and played another song. Tonight’s poster by John Mavroudis features Ohmygod Moonalice, who can only make sense of the world through 3-D glasses. For her, this week’s debates were a cross between House Of Wax and It Came from Outer Space, but with less blood. Boring, but she could not turn away. She — and we — know things will go better from here if we all do our part. That is why she brought a pencil and we still have another set to play! Enjoy a cheeseburger and we’ll be back shortly.

According to Moonalice legend, the Tribe gathers every year around this time to elevate its profile. By tradition, we gather here at Slim’s — this is the eighth consecutive year — and we are joined by the amazing Ace of Cups and the equally amazing Lester and Dylan Chambers.

There is much to celebrate this year. Let’s start with the big stuff. We have all made through a year that has to have been one of the weirdest of our lives.

According to Moonalice legend, wombats are marsupials. They have pouches for their babies, but as you can see in this screen print by Emek it’s hard to keep the little ones under control. When they smell weed, they make a beeline for it. Even the chubby ones. But the reason why the little guy is so fired up is that he knows something that will blow your mind: next year, every day in April will be 4/20!

Harvey Milk: Hope is Never Silent by John Mavroudis

Artist John Mavroudis, currently with 32 posters in the Moonalice series, has just launched a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to screen print his “Harvey Milk: Hope is Never Silent” art containing names from over 150 figures from LGBTQ history.

This piece was originally designed in 2017 when Friends of Harvey Milk Plaza and San Francisco arts non-profit Illuminate, John Mavroudis, and Haight Street Art Center came together to honor Harvey Milk on the 40th Anniversary of Harvey’s historic 1977 election as California’s first openly gay elected official.

November 8, 2017 was also the 20th Anniversary of Gilbert Baker’s Giant Rainbow Flag being raised above Harvey Milk Plaza. 🏳️‍🌈
