Moonalice poster by Dennis Larkins
Legend
According to Moonalice legend, when last we saw our hero, the Lone Ranger was driving from Bakersfield to Nevada City to exact revenge from Tonto, who had retired to a quiet life of cannabis farming after twenty years of referring to his boss by an uncomplimentary native nick name. The Lone Ranger’s mind was elsewhere as he drove north into the night. So as depicted in tonight’s poster by Dennis Larkins, he did not see the ghosts of Silver, Scout, and Painted Horse rising from a bonfire of cannabis … It turns out that Tonto was not the only one who resented the Lone Ranger’s hogging of the spotlight … What happens next? Will the Lone Ranger get his revenge? Will the pony ghosts stop him in time? Join us next week for another exciting installment of The Moonalice Legend.
Artist’s Statement
An opportunity to use such an evocative sounding venue as the “Crazy Horse Saloon” as a launching pad for mind-tripping reminded me of countless long solo cruises down lonely two-lane blacktop in the “Ranger Mobile” where time and space can intertwine to create the siren call of phantasmagorical images on the distant horizon!”
