Moonalice poster by Carolyn Ferris
Legend
According to Moonalice legend, tonight’s poster by Carolyn Ferris depicts Luna Moonalice in a characteristic pose. Luna was two-faced – she admitted it – but in her case, two faces doubled the probability that men would look her in the eye instead of … well, you know. Luna is the patron saint of many things, but tonight — on the 50th anniversary of the assassination of JFK — we acknowledge her as the protector of grassy knolls and conspiracy theories!!!
Artist’s Statement
“This is my first original painting since 1999, it’s called Moon Lounge. The lettering is subliminal. This woman is taking some getaway time out. Her Medusa like hair has turned from snakes to mushrooms. She’s brought music along with her and thoughts of her man (skirt metaphor) for a relaxing outing. Think about taking a trip somewhere far enough away to give yourself time to relax. If you can’t fly to the moon, try looking over a gorgeous precipice and count all in your world for which you are grateful. Then, get to 19 Broadway in Fairfax on Friday the 22nd for a fabulous Moonalice show, it will light up your night.”
