Moonalice’s Annual “420 Gathering of the Tribe”

A psychedelic spring themed show with music by Moonalice, Doobie Decibel System & Special Guests!

Also included in the $10 ticket price: A free set of up to 20 posters by well known artists commemorating the event, a Moonalice book (Volume 1), a poster art show, a photo booth, a raffle with amazing prices, lots of treats, desserts & many more special surprises.

The Golden Anniversary of the First Acid Test event poster by Gary Houston of Voodoo Catbox will be available at two events during the first week of December. This poster was created in special commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Ken Kesey’s very first acid test, which took place November 27, 1965 in Soquel, CA and included a first performance by the Grateful Dead while still known as The Warlocks. Visual Crap is a magnificent retrospective of the much beloved Portland based graphic artist Gary Houston and his long and accomplished career of original art pieces, screen prints and concert posters. Gary will be selecting works from his massive archive to showcase original drawings, art prints and notable screen printed gig posters, over 300 pieces included in the exhibit!

Reminiscent of Matisse’s Cut-Out series, Paper Cuts shows how paper can take on a strength and beauty in it’s abstract and narrative forms. In this exhibition, we observe how such a simple medium can be transformed into diverse ranges of forms. Considering paper’s history as one of the oldest formats for documentation and avenues for expressing ideas, the exhibition continues to foster the growth of this utilitarian medium and explores how it can adapt with the times. Paper Cuts features four artists who all express their unique take on the same material.

According to Moonalice legend, as part of the Mill Valley Arts Commission First Tuesday Art Walk, Stanley Mouse of Rock Art Fame will show his fine art & sell copies of his new book California Dreams: The Art of Stanley Mouse.

We’re huge fans of Stanley Mouse, whose work includes 20 posters in the Moonalice series.

Stanley “Mouse” Miller was the son of a Disney animator and grew up doing hot-rod art in Detroit. Mouse had a natural feel for the organic lines of Art Nouveau as well as a hand that drew the art seemingly of its own volition. Upon moving to San Francisco, he teamed up with Alton Kelley to form the renowned “Mouse and Kelley.” Many of their posters remain enduring symbols of the sixties counterculture. His art is displayed in numerous museums around the world including The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The Tokyo Museum Of Modern Art, The Louvre in Paris as well as the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. Mouse is still actively painting and he lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.
