Another classic featured in the Chris Shaw Poster release is from the September 24, 2011 show at the Humboldt Hills Howdown in Redway, California – also known poster M412 in the Moonalice series. At a recent visit to his studio, Chris shared the original pencil sketch with us.
Once the sketch is complete, it gets inked, before getting scanned into the computer, pictured here:
One advantage to using a computer is the ability to show and hide various layers. In this image, Chris shows us what the poster would look like with no blackline.
This Moonalice matriarch was also used to advertise the first Art of Moonalice Poster Show in Fairfax, CA. While a poster was never printed, handbills do exist.
Another variant of this image made the cover of the Moonalice Legend Book Vol 3, an amazing hardcover book filled with Moonalice Posters, Legends, Photographs and more.
For a limited time while you watch or listen to the show (for FREE) on Moonalice.com, you can also add this poster by Chris Shaw to your collection, but only for a limited time. This poster will not be reprinted again so don’t miss out.
