Part of the inspiration for the Chris Shaw poster release stems from his recent art exhibit at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art that featured a series of vividly colored Madonnas. The catalogue can be viewed online at Chris’ website ChrisShawStudio.com.
Moonalice poster M400, designed for the show on August 18, 2011 at Mt. Tabor Theater in Portland is a classic in the series, and a recent trip to Chris’ studio uncovered some process pictures to the making of this poster. One secret about the composition of this piece is it’s use of a double Golden Ratio, pictured below (in red) over the original line drawing.
Once the sketch is completed, it becomes inked, scanned, and given the magical touch by Chris on the computer. By using software programs that include Photoshop, Chris can make color mock ups, like the blue pictured below, to see how things look before anything becomes permanent.
For a limited time, you can add this poster to your collection for a special price at Moonalice.com.
