Legend
According to Moonalice legend, the Moonalice tribe has played a major role in naming communities in this state. We had nothing to do with naming the state, which honors William Penn. It also had nothing to do with the city of Pittsburgh, which is named after William Pitt. Our contribution came in the naming of smaller agricultural communities, such as Hempfield, Pottstown and Pottsville. In 1920, Pottsville was home to the Maroons, one of the earliest NFL franchises. Unfortunately, they overslept and got bumped from the league.
According to Moonalice legend, today is the 114th birthday of Walter Breuning, the oldest man in the world. Mr. Breunig takes no medications and didn’t require a hearing aid until he was 111.
