According to Moonalice legend, the tribe has long struggled with the question of which came first: the concert or the poster? Tonight’s poster by David Singer is an instant classic, but it does nothing to resolve the matter. The music vs. poster debate raged for centuries, each time more sarcastic than ever. Verbal combat eventually paralyzed the tribe, so the matriarchs organized a quadrennial festival of intellectual games, known as the M-lympics. If you have been riveted by NBC’s broadcasts from London, you may not know that the M-Lympics have been going on inside people’s heads for the past two weeks.

This is David Singer’s 76th poster for Moonalice. We celebrate this because David has now created one more poster for Moonalice than the 75 posters he did for Bill Graham. Moonalice believes in poster art and we are proud to support David and his art.

According to Moonalice legend, today’s poster by David Singer depicts a legend of tribal culture, Bones Moonalice, the patron saint of pack rats. Bones was known for never throwing away anything. His prodigious collections of plastic hotel keys, roaches, back stage passes and menus from Chinese restaurants with large fish tanks redefined the concept of scholarly research. Recently, Bones was named the Sexiest Dead Man Alive. The award cited his peaceful demeanor, exceptional smile, and clever use of roses.

According to Moonalice legend, tonight’s poster by David Singer depicts the Bird Woman of Agoura Hills, Parvati Moonalice at the moment of birth of her son Eggnog. Eggnog was destined to be a global explorer, which is why his egg so strongly resembles the planet earth. But why is it that baby Eggnog has the muscular development of an adult weight lifter? And why does this bright thing in the middle and the human stem from which it emerges so closely resemble a mushroom? Questions like this are why the Moonalice tribe supports poster art. That and the fact that posters are beautiful.
