According to Moonalice legend, we have gathered here today to celebrate Hardly Strictly Bluegrass … the best thing about our great city of San Francisco. We have 3 posters for you, by Alexandra Fischer, Chris Shaw and Stanley Mouse. Mouse’s poster depicts the Great Spirit of our tribe, Dopey Moonalice, who makes sure nobody runs out of weed. Thanks to Big Steve and the U.S. Department of Entertainment and Weed, Dopey is back on the job after a long absence. From now on, nobody runs out of weed. Is that clear? According to Moonalice legend, now that we have managed to avoid going to war in Syria, we need to find something for the Defense Department that is more productive than reading our email. Sensing a window of opportunity, the Moonalice legend is moving to the present tense. One member of our tribe – Howling Monkey Moonalice – wants to exploit the debt ceiling conflict for tribal gain.

Howling Monkey wants to send a three-eyed chimpanzee into space: himself. Howling Monkey is volunteering to fly a mission to our home plutoid, the moon.

The chimp thinks Congress needs an alternative to delaying Obamacare forever, repealing all taxes and regulations, and forcing women to live as if this were the 14th century. And he thinks a chimp mission to the moon is just the ticket. Polls suggest the Chimp’s plan lacks public support, but that won’t stop him from holding the country hostage.

According to Moonalice legend, tonight’s poster by Chris Shaw depicts the earliest days of the Canyon Club. As you can see, it was indeed in a canyon — a pretty desolate stretch of desert, if you ask me — but good music changed everything. Like rainfall in fields, music from the Club nourished the entire canyon, to the point where it became a very desirable place to live. Next thing you know, they built Agoura Hills. Now all they need to keep everyone happy here is a visit each year from the Marshall Tucker Band. And here they are!!!

According to Moonalice legend, today’s poster by Chris Shaw depicts Jerry Garcia’s curve ball. Legend has it that Jerry’s curveball flew. Unfortunately, it only flew after it made contact with a bat, after which it generally flew over the fence. This is why Jerry became a guitar player and the Grateful Dead became famous.
