According to Moonalice legend, tonight’s poster by the perfectly monikered Carolyn Ferris depicts Fe Moonalice, the first brew mistress here in Fairfax. Fe got her water from a spring of iron, her grain and hops from the field across the road and her hemp from a dealer in Ross. Fe was unconventional for a Moonalice, in that she got high on a swing, not hemp. Some say her balance was exquisite. Others suggest it might have been the hummingbird. We know better than to offer an opinion on this kind of thing.

On her sea horse Mescalito, she comes breezin’ through town, providing care and medicine to those in need. According to Moonalice legend, the first post office here in Alamo opened in 1851, right after California became a state. There were only a handful of families here in town and the roster of names caught our attention: Jones, Glass, Englemeyer, Stone, Wall, Bollinger, Foster, Moonalice. Moonalice? Apparently, our forebears raised peacocks and ladybugs right here in Alamo, which, despite tonight’s incredible poster by Carolyn Ferris, was a venture doomed to failure. According to Moonalice legend, Alamo is an unincorporated community. We understand you have been trying to get incorporated for generations, but your neighbors won’t let you. We want you to know that the Moonalice tribe stands shoulder to shoulder with the citizens of Alamo in your struggle for freedom!!!
