According to Moonalice legend, Memorial Day began after the Civil War when freed slaves in Charleston, SC honored the fallen soldiers of the Union Army. As depicted in today’s poster by Dennis Loren, Memorial Day is an opportunity to heal wounds … and to honor the men and women whose sacrifice made this day possible.
