Moonalice poster by Chris Shaw
Legend
September 3, 2011
According to Moonalice legend, this weekend’s poster by Chris Shaw features Ann’s nocturnal great great grandmother, the original Blue Moonalice. Blue’s iconic beauty transformed the Moonalice legend from a collection of seemingly random factoids to a collection of seemingly random facts involving beautiful women. Blue first came to Monte Rio before this redwood grove even existed. You see, it was illegal to grow redwood trees in those days. For reasons unrelated to her name, Blue believed it was her calling to promote redwoods in Monte Rio. So she planted all of these trees here. But she was very careful. She planted them between rows of hemp so that no one would notice.

According to Moonalice legend, Chris Shaw’s amazing poster of Blue Moonalice reminds us that today is High on the Hog Day. For Moonalices, High on the Hog Day is similar to Groundhog Day, but without Punxatawny, Bill Murray and the groundhog. On High on the Hog Day some things – like the poster and the venue – are exactly the same as the day before. But some things are different. We’ll leave it up to you to figure out what is different.
