Moonalice poster by David Singer
Legend
According to Moonalice legend, Tucson may be home to the University of Arizona, but Tempe has also been home to some really big wildcats. David Singer’s poster shows Ferdinand the Wildcat, who moved to this area a few hundred years ago, just after the Moonalice tribe first arrived. Ferdinand was huge – about a mile long and half long and a mile tall at the shoulder. Ferdinand lived for the scent of wildflowers, which meant he didn’t last very long in the Valley of the Sun. Fortunately, the Moonalice tribe here in Tempe gave Ferdinand some huge buds and sent him off to Mendocino County, where he has lived happily ever after.
