Moonalice poster by John Mavroudis

According to Moonalice legend, tonight’s poster by John Mavroudis depicts Aldus Manutius Moonalice, a man of letters.  Literally.  The dude was a mess of fine print, most of which just screamed, “Moonalice!”   What would have been a crippling liability for most people, enabled Aldus to thrive.  No one could do a better job of reading between the lines.   He arrived in Berkeley in time for the Free Speech Movement, and was suspected of being the prepared text for Mario Savio’s major speeches.   Last year, he went up to Davis to read the Riot Act to Lt. Pike, the campus policeman who made pepper spray famous.  If you check out the fine print on your ticket, Aldus be here now.
