Moonalice poster by Wendy Wright
According to Moonalice legend, today’s poster by Wendy Wright depicts Trumpette Moonalice, a matriarch whose flowery greetings bring cheer each year to the Moonalice tribe. Here’s a tip: every summer at the solstice, Trumpette puts on a huge party in which she covers herself with poster art and waits to see if anyone would notice. Anyone who figures it out get a free poster! Given that today is the solstice, it’s possible Trumpette is hiding among us now. Keep your eyes peeled!!!
“The inspiration came from the Trumpet flower trees in Union Square. I love drawing flowers and at the last Moonalice show in Union Square, I spotted these beautiful trees. I was deeply inspired by them and started forming ideas in my head for my poster, (as I was scheduled to do the next Moonalice Union Square Live poster). I have had a recent fascination with hummingbirds and had to include one. I love drawing all my lettering by hand and making it part of the illustration. I feel this aspect is really important and can really make the piece.” (Wendy Wright — artist)
